Anyone that was successful in changing the start-up screen

Update: OK to change the Start-up/Boot Screen on the Kenwood DNX 6160 you have to press hold the SRC+Eject buttons and press Reset key. Release the SRC+Eject buttons once you see the light turns on. You get 2 options. Kenwwood Image and OEM Image. Choose OEM Image and choose USB and download the image you want then reset and you are done. Image need to be 480 X 240 pixels

To change the background you need to press hold the FNC+Eject buttons and press Reset key. Press Direct button go to and press the wrench key button at the top right corner of the screen. Choose Display --> choose Background --> USB --> Download image. Reset and are done

Hope this helps someone on the Map issue......

Ok, So I found a Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2010.40 IMG Unlocked. I found it in the usual places......

I loaded it onto a 8gb SD card and put the card into the DNX6160. Power on the unit and go to NAV-Settings-Map-Info......you will now see the internal map which was 2010.10 on my unit (yours may vary) and the external map xxxx.xx (xx being what ever map you loaded) on the SD card, uncheck the older map and return back to Navigation.

All is good and I'm running the new map! I wish it was internal, but this will sufice until someone figures more out about the new units.

One more thing the DNX 6160 will load an 800x480 start up screen without a problem.....

I will be installing my 6160 this weekend. I am fairly confident it will be the same as my previous 6960 since they share the same user manual.

You can access the garmin files to add voices and vehicles, and copy, paste, delete the garmin files. Within this, you may be able to update the maps as well.

Link to accessing garmin files:

With my garmin nuvi, I was able to delete the gmap (forgot the full file name) and upload the updated maps with great success. I would be shocked if it was not exactly the same thing with this head unit.

Will play with the maps later.

How can I set up the A2DP on my 6160 to pair with my Iphone in order to stream music? Way annoying to have to go in the glove box and plug my phone in when they are already connected with bluetooth.

Thanks!
